b. Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information through cookies, pixels, tags, local storage and similar technologies (together, “cookies“), including: IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, cart activity, and, for session-recording tools, mouse movements, clicks and scrolling. See section 4.
c. Information from third parties
We may receive information from payment processors (e.g., payment confirmation, fraud-screening results), shipping carriers (delivery status), and review or affiliate platforms (e.g., that a referral came from a particular affiliate).
Minors. You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase from us (see our Terms and Conditions). The Site is not directed to anyone under 21, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 21, we will delete it, subject to any legal obligation to keep it.
3. Why we collect and use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Process and fulfil orders — take payment, ship products, provide tracking, and handle returns, refunds and replacements.
- Verify purchaser eligibility — confirm that purchasers meet the requirements in our Terms and Conditions (including the 21+ age requirement and research-use requirements) and decide whether to accept, hold or cancel an order.
- Provide customer support — respond to questions about orders, shipping and documentation (such as Certificates of Analysis).
- Operate, secure and improve the Site — maintain accounts, prevent spam, fraud and abuse, troubleshoot problems, and understand how the Site is used.
- Comply with legal obligations — including tax, accounting, customs/export documentation, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
- Marketing (with consent) — send newsletters and promotional emails only where you have given express consent (or where otherwise permitted by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Advertising measurement — measure the effectiveness of any advertising and, where enabled, show relevant ads, as described in section 4. You can opt out as described there.
- Administer our affiliate program — track referrals and pay commissions.
We will not use your personal information for a new purpose without first identifying that purpose and, where required, obtaining your consent.
Consent. We rely on your express consent for marketing emails and, where required, for non-essential cookies. For other purposes we rely on consent that is implied by your use of the Site or your order (for example, we need your address to ship to you). You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services (for example, we cannot ship an order without a shipping address).

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below and only to the extent needed for the purpose.
Service providers that act on our behalf, under contractual or other measures requiring them to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us:
- Website hosting and infrastructure: Hostinger (hosting, CDN and the “Hostinger Reach” email tool); Automattic (Jetpack).
- Payment processing: the third-party payment processors offered at checkout (such as PayPal and Stripe) and, where offered, a cryptocurrency payment service. These providers receive your payment details directly and handle them under their own privacy policies and security standards (such as PCI DSS for card data).
- Shipping carriers: Canada Post and UPS, which receive your name, shipping address, phone number and parcel details. For shipments to the United States and other cross-border shipments, carriers and customs authorities receive the information required on customs declarations.
- Email and newsletter: Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) and Hostinger Reach.
- Analytics, session recording and advertising: Google, Microsoft, Meta and Automattic, as described in section 4.
- Customer communication: WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us that way. Messages are subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
- Reviews: Trustpilot, including, where review invitations are enabled, your name, email address and order reference so that Trustpilot can invite you to review your order.
- Professional advisers: accountants, lawyers and auditors, under confidentiality obligations.
Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose personal information where required or permitted by law — for example, in response to a subpoena, warrant or order, to comply with tax, customs or regulatory requirements, to investigate fraud, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Contexx Research, our customers or others.
Business transactions. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be disclosed to the parties involved, subject to confidentiality protections and applicable law.
6. Where your information is stored and processed
We are based in Ontario, Canada. Several of our service providers (including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Automattic, Hostinger, Brevo, Trustpilot and payment processors) store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, the European Union and other countries where they operate. While your information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement and national-security authorities there. You can contact us through the contact form on our website for more information about our service providers outside Canada.
7. How long we keep personal information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law:
- Order, invoice and transaction records: 7 years after the end of the fiscal year they relate to, for tax and accounting purposes (Canada Revenue Agency recordkeeping rules).
- Purchaser eligibility records: for as long as your account is open and for 7 years after your last order, to document our compliance.
- Account information: until you ask us to close your account, subject to the order-record retention above.
- Customer support communications: 2 years after the matter is resolved.
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, plus a record of your consent and unsubscribe as required by CASL.
- Analytics and session-recording data: according to each tool’s retention settings — up to 14 months for Google Analytics and up to 13 months for Microsoft Clarity.
- Affiliate records: for the duration of the affiliate relationship plus 7 years for payout and tax records.
When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
8. How we protect personal information
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, access limited to staff who need it, strong passwords and, where available, multi-factor authentication on administrative accounts, regular software updates, and the use of reputable payment processors so we do not store full card numbers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incident promptly.
Breaches. If a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA, and keep a record of the breach.
9. Your rights and how to exercise them
Subject to limited exceptions under law, you may:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw consent to certain uses (for example, marketing emails or non-essential cookies);
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
To make a request, contact us through the contact form on our website and mention “Privacy request” in your message. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request, or tell you if we need an extension and why, as permitted by PIPEDA. There is no charge for most requests; if a fee applies, we will tell you in advance. If we refuse a request, we will explain why and tell you about available recourse.
You can manage most account information yourself by logging in to your account, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time with the link in each email.
10. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about our privacy practices, please contact us first through the contact form on our website. We will investigate and respond, and if a complaint is justified, we will take appropriate measures, including amending our practices.

12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date and, if the changes are significant, we will provide additional notice (for example, a notice on the Site or by email). Changes apply from the date they are posted.
